A TOP-SECRET US SNIPER TEAMS STORY

                                               ISBN 0-7414-4010-5

I was just seventeen years old when I'd realized my lifelong dream of working on or even flying aircraft for a career one day.  I had daydreamed about it ever since my introduction to them by my third grade teacher, a private pilot herself.  Determined to follow that dream I was eventually trained as a mechanic and pilot at Clover-Park High schools Aviation technical department, located in 'Lakewood'; a tall-trees forested, and lakes-filled park-like community, in Washington State. With my fathers approving signature, because of my being under age, I enlisted in the United States Air Force, signing up,  after Psychological, and Aptitude testing, to train as an aircraft mechanic.

However, Uncle Sam, or at least someone working for him, they having knowledge somehow of how I was raised as a match shooter by my father, an NRA Pistol and Rifle Match Shooter and Range Officer/Instructor, a military man who demanded that I be trained  several times every week of my young life, from the age of 11 until I left high school, to be the best with a gun, had other plans for me, dangerous, life altering plans.

The book, based on actual events in my life during that time, chronicles how I served my country, honorably, and how everything I was told I would do while in the military by my recruiter was changed by the men that later commanded me while I served, and why what happened to me and what I actually did during that time was considered Top-Secret, and why it was kept that way, even from many in the US Government, I suspect.
That said, my military career didn't start out differently from any other mans' that joined the US Air Force back then.  It began as promised until I'd finished basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, where my Drill Instructor wanted to recommend to his Commanding officer that they keep me on as a  D.I. (Drill Instructor); an offer I had to turn down.
Everything stayed true to the course until after I completed Aircraft Mechanic Training, or Technical School, on B-47's (Bombers) at Amarillo (AFB) Air Force Base, Texas, in their last class on that aircraft.
Yes, everything was normal, so to speak, until I landed at Sewart AFB, Tennessee, my first (PCS), permanent duty station, after graduating technical school in the top third of my class.  I'd been transfered there to  supposedly work as a 3-level, 'basically trained', aircraft mechanic on bombers, Top-Secret combat aircraft.  However, what I found there were cargo aircraft, the C-130 Hercules to be specific, not the Stratigic Air Command type War Birds I had been trained on.  A fact that was very disapointing to me, to say the least..
It was there that I found out that I would never turn a wrench on an aircraft while working under my new Commanding officer, CWO Flynn, or the NCO's under his command, nor would I ever for any Officer or NCO that commanded me thereafter, not while I remained in the US Air Force.  Not even after being transfered overseas, away from Sewart Air Force Base, to my second PCS base, a closed to the public combat-support-base-to-Vietnam located in the Philippine Islands, at Mactan AFB, AKA (Open island), and then on into Vietnam itself, at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon, and beyond.

     Make no mistake, this story
is not the so-called standard or worked over tired materials that so many others have written about time and again that sit left half unread on many bored readers dusty shelves.  It is instead, a compelling, riveting and intense read that is filled with all the things that bring most people to any really good; 'Couldn't put it down once I started reading it', SUPER NOVEL.  Besides regailing the reader of my personal coming of age story, it is also a Multi-Faceted, Highly-Detailed, and Very Descriptive; Top-Secret, and Highly Covert, US Military/CIAScout-Sniper, and Vietnam War Combat  Story, outlining 1967-68 Operation Thermopylae and my tasking orders, three fold, under that (TSO), 'Top Secret Operation':

(1) The targeting and elimination of Vietnamese Scout-Snipers, their chain of Command and other high priority targets. These, thanks to US Military policy, are the stories you never read about in your local newspaper or heard about from the news stations on your radio or television back then.

(2) The development and construction of the Camo, or Ghillie Suit, designed for the US Military and the CIA, for US Snipers, Long-Range Recon Patrols (LRRP's), and other Top-Secret factions to use in SE Asia and around the world, to include the use and testing of new LRRP rations in 1967-68 for the US Military.

(3) The development and use of the, then, Top-Secret, Springfield Arms XM-21, 308  cal. (7.62 X 51) full and semi-automatic sniper rifle, and the ART II, automatic-ranging telescopic sight, Springfield's newest and most top-secret (sniper/rifle, sniper weapons system/platform) of the time.

In addition, it tells the story of what I call the 'hopefully unusual' in the US Military, the story about the many sadistic and likely mentally ill officers and NCO's serving in the US Military and the hell they create for others that are trying to serve their country.  Mixed in with the expected influences of the traditional or usual Military traditions, the things I came to know very well while growing up as a 'Military Brat', and what I term  'US military good-old-boy and good-old-girl-isms'; the if you do that for me, I'll do anything you want for you, whatever it is, no matter who it hurts, thing, that is alive and well today in all branches of the military, you will read about the truely bad things many men face while they serve....
This is the true story of one mans' tenasity in the face of insurmountable odds, his heroism and honor in uniform, and his dedication and allegiance to his country and his flag.  It's a story that chronicles the prejudice, betrayal, torture, terrorism, and daily degredation one man suffered at the hands of the dishonorable, sadistic, and possibly mentally ill, officers and NCO's who commanded him.  Men that, through their manipulations of him while chasing their own agendas, used him covertly for his talents while holding him back, denying him his military career and his lifelong dreams of a future in the US Air Force and the civilian aircraft industry as a mechanic or pilot.  Men who, after they were done with him, tried to kill him and after failing that forced him out of the military in their efforts to cover it all up.

I could have called the book, Four Years of Hell....! However, I will leave that determination to you, for a time after you have read it for yourself.

My novel is a self published work so I am always open to discussions of publishing with a large international publishing firm.
