Introduction for the super novel: Codename Litefoot
My name is Robert A. Boyd, author of
the above listed, recently released, Super Novel: ISBN 0-7414-4010-5, an autobiographical work. I was just seventeen years old
when I enlisted in the military, signing up to train, at that time, as an aircraft mechanic in the United States
Air Force, my lifelong dream back then having loved the idea of working on aircraft since my introduction to them by my third
grade teacher and already having been trained as such at my High school, Clover Park.
Of course,
Uncle Sam, or at least someone working for him, they having knowledge of how I was raised as a match shooter by my father,
an NRA Pistol and Rifle Match Shooter and Range Officer/Instructor, a man who demanded that I be trained every weekend of
my young life, from the age of 11 until I left high school, to be the best with a gun, had other plans for me.
The book,
based on actual events in my life, chronicles how I served my country, and how everything I was told I would do while in the
military, by my recruiter, was changed by the men that commanded me, and why what happened to me and what I actually did was
all kept Top-Secret, even from many in the US Government,
I suspect. Because of its critical content, this is a book the United States Military and or Government, I am sure,
would rather you didn't read. Why? Well, you'll have to read about that for yourself. I can
say, that even though I was trained as a Bomber mechanic at Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas, after basic training, and then transfered
to my first permanent duty station, Sewart Air Force Base in Tennessee to be that aircraft mechanic on C-130 Hercules
cargo aircraft, I never turned a wrench on one or on any aircraft for that matter, not while I remained in the US Air Force.
Others, high ranking officers and the men they commanded, the men who gave me my orders, men who operated secretly within
the US Military under their own secret chains of command, had different plans for me.
My
story is not the so-called standard type of reading material that sits left half unread on many
dusty shelves, but instead, it is a riveting and intense read that is filled with all the things that bring most people
to any really good book.
First and foremost, it is a highly
detailed and very discriptive Top-Secret US Military/CIA Highly-Covert Scout-Sniper, and Vietnam War combat story, outlining
1967-68 Operation Thermopylae and my tasking orders, three fold, under that operation; (1) The targeting and elimination of
Vietnamese Scout-Snipers, their chain of Command and other high priority targets, These, thanks to US Military secret policy,
are the stories you never read about in your local newspaper or heard about from the news stations on your radio or television
set. In addition, the book details my Top-Secret recruitment, training/development, and implementation, and (2) the
secret construction and development of the camo, or Ghillie Suit, for the US Military and or CIA, for its US Snipers and Long
Range Recon Patrols (LRRP's) to use in SE Asia and around the world. (3) You will also learn about the development and
use of the Top-Secret Springfield Arms XM-21 semi automatic 308 (7.62) cal. sniper rifle, and the ART II, automatic-ranging,
telescopic sight, Springfields newest and most top-secret (sniper/rifle, weapon system/platform) of the time.
Even at todays standards the Springfield M-21 is a highly sought after, beautifully machined and constructed, semi automatic,
long-range match quality sniper weapon. Highly recommended for US Citizen ownership by the author, it uses a NATO round,
308, and therefore, ammo is easily found and re-loaded for it. Second, it tells the story of what I call the unusual in the military with the expected influences of the
traditional and what I term as US military good-old-boy and good-old-girl-isms and secret officer groups or clicks that seem
to control everything anybody does while they serve their country. The, if you do this for me, I'll do that for you, thing,
in the Military. Third, it tells the Top-Secret stuff, about how my career
in the US Military was derogatorily influenced by: My Superior Officers and the NCO's they commanded and my personal
story about E-grades abuse, many of them menatally and physically abused by their own officers. Further,
it suggests the institution of Top-Secret officer-only clubs/clicks that
operate like a second or third chain of command within the US Military, and the Terrorism, Corruption, Politics, Sex, Drugs,
and more that they attempt to control within the confines of their commands. It also suggests officer driven Prejudice
toward lower ranking GI's, Attempted Murders, and good old American Rock and Roll. I could have called the book,
Four Years of Hell....! But you will have to make that determination for
yourself after reading it.
Be advised: There are very few records
that indicate that I was in Vietnam for more than a few weeks, and because of that fact, to the casual reader or onlooker,
it would appear that I was never actually there in a combat role. This is what you are supposed to think, for covert
ops and top-secret status reasons, of course. That being said, I was there, and this is my story, all 742 pages of it.
Novel Disclaimer: All the things that
happened in the US military and in Vietnam back in the mid 1960's is supposed to have been declassified, and
therefore, all that information is supposed to be available to any American for review. Well, if you believe that...
Based on that disbelief, my novel, supposedly declassified information included, all based on my true story, autobiographical
or not, is being presented to the general public as a fiction work. This
is better known as CYA or CMA.
For those of you who have already acquired my novel: I thank you for your purchase and for your interest in my work. And, thank
you for all your kind e-mails and letters. It makes me feel good inside to hear that all of you liked my book that

A message and request from Litefoot! I am an unemployed, other than selling my novel that is, 100%
disabled, US Military Veteran, receiving only a 10% percent disability compensation from the United States Veterans
Administration for injuries to my back that I acquired while I served my country during that war while in Ton Son
Nhut Air Base, Saigon, Vietnam. Therefore, I do not make or have enough income to pay for proper advertising myself.
Because of this fact, I need and am asking for your assistance in spreading the word about my book. This is a self published
work and even though it is listed with Ingram, a US based book distributor who has made it available to all brick-and-mortar
bookstores and libraries in the US, those outlets have not been notified as to my book's existence. It
is therefore, up to me, and hopefully you, with your help, to get the word out. In addition, because I
am self published, my novel is not being distributed by a major publisher to bookstores in the US or around the world. How can you help? Simply by telling the people you know, your friends,
and especially any military Veteran that you know about my book and about my website and by asking them to do the same.
You can do this by word of mouth, by sending e-mails to all your friends and business contacts, and you can call
your favorite bookstore and library and ask that they carry my book. To assist you in some of these efforts with
your friends, I have included a, Recommend this site envelope Icon,
located at the top and bottom of this page. Simply click on the envelope, and when the next
window opens, fill out the required information (Recipients name, To: e-mail address, Your message to them about my book
or website, etc), and then, click send. None of the information you enter into the boxes will be sent in any way
to me or to any other party. You will be taken directly back to the page you clicked the icon on. It's quick
and easy. Your assistance will effectively get my novel into the minds of your friends and with a phone
call from you they will even get into bookstores and libraries. This will effectively advertise my book from one
friend to another, one co-worker to another, one Veteran to another, one American to another, and one citizen
of any country to another. Thank you in advance for your kind assistance and support in this, a group advertising
effort. Litefoot...
To all Vietnam War Veterans: FYI! I wrote this novel in a way that allows the reader a clear
mental image of what I saw, smelled, thought, tasted, touched, and heard as well as what I wore, how I perceived the
deaths of others as I fought the enemy hand to hand, and how I existed in the Vietnam jungle. In addition,
its combat and shooting sequences are highly detailed, each word being chosen thoughtfully, so as to get the point across...
Subsequently, while reading my novel, you as a combat Veteran, may very well be taken back, visually, in your mind, into
the thick of things as it were. So, take it slow my friend... Oh, and thanks for being there.
For those of you who were not in Vietnam during the 60's, and do not know the meanings of the terms we used back then, there is a glossary of terms-definitions and codename
assignments located on the last twelve pages of my book. For ease of reading, I recommend that you
familiarize yourself with these pages before starting to read the book. After all, not too many people
today know what a redball L-Z, a goofy grape, a slick, a Butterbar, an FNG, or what Lima Poppa or FUBAR, means, is or was.
If, while you are reading, you come to a phrase or word that is not listed in the back of the book, one you need to know the
definition of, you can write me an e-mail at: Litefoot@codenamelitefoot.com. In response, I will add that word or phrase to the definitions list on this site to
assist you and other readers as well. Just click on this Definitions link or
the one to the upper left side of this page and look up that word or phrase alphabetically. Be advised: even though
I try to check my e-mails daily, sometimes I get busy, so please allow three days to a week for my response. Thank you...
